The game of poker is a card game in which players wager against one another by placing chips in a pot. These chips represent money and are placed into the pot voluntarily by each player. Despite these differences, most poker games can be traced back to the game of primero, which evolved into the three-card brag that became a popular gentleman’s game in the 18th century. It is also possible that a simpler form of the game existed earlier, such as in the form of the card game “rounders”.”
